First and Fifth Sunday Singers

At our church, Lafayette Presbyterian Church, we have a tradition in months that contain 5 Sundays.  On the first and fifth Sunday, instead of having an anthem sang by our wonderful choir, we have the men and women of the church sing a hymn.  On the first Sunday it’s the women and on the fifth Sunday the men have their turn.  John says that is the only way he will ever see the choir loft!  Patti loves this tradition and always looks forward to it🎶🎵😍.

This youtube video is actually from July 1st when we were singing away🤗!

You will see Patti patriotically singing in her red shirt…she’s standing next to Rita (who’s in the blue shirt).

Enjoy!!!😀

Independence Day

We had a very festive Independence day holiday here at the Kinneer/Dickman household!

We had a delicious dinner and some snacks beforehand.

John spent most of the day cleaning the boat to get it ready to start using it this year…been a very busy year with many different projects and events, so he hadn’t really had time to do this yet and he so loves to be out on the water!  Sadly, he isn’t sailing the seas but that’s a different story😏 !

This is the final sparkling clean boat…at least we live in Florida where boating season is basically year round!😁

Patti and I hung out in the house, getting dinner ready and snacking.

Yum, deviled eggs!

Patti set the table…

With all the delicious fixins’…Instant pot ribs, home-made potato salad, baked beans, and corn on the cob!!!🤗

Ready to chow down😋

Delicious home-made apple pie…Grandma’s recipe, YUM!!!

John likes his pie a-la-mode…

…and Patti likes whipped cream!

And now for some poses…

Such fabulous models!

After dinner and dessert we a sparkling good time!🎇

Singing and dancing away…I got some of her singing in the videos at the end of the post.

John getting ready to light some sparklers for Patti.

She really loves sparklers only, cannot stand loud noises.  I remember going to fireworks when I was a kid…I don’t know if she went though…

And here is Patti hamming it up with some 4th of July sparkler videos…enjoy!!!!🎼

We need to take her show on the road, don’t you think?!

We really did have a pretty good day.  It’s really nice after everything that Patti has been thru to see her smile and have a good time…and it’s nice to know that we can still make her smile:)

Patti and her volunteering!

I was trying to think of what my next post would be when I received and message with a picture of Patti doing what she does every Thursday (I should say most every Thursday, sometimes life pops up and surprises you)…volunteering at the homeless shelter here in Tallahassee, the Kearney Center.  She helps out with serving lunch or whatever they need at the time, always telling John and I what they were serving and any other exciting news that comes up.

On this particular Thursday she, apparently, was helping out with the dishes.  She really enjoys volunteering and being active in the community.  She also goes to our main library on Fridays to help out where she can.

She is also a member of AKtion Club,  which is a club for people with disabilities and is sponsored by Kiwanis… her group is sponsored by the Killearn Kiwanis Club.  AKtion Club is a community service organization and Patti really loves it!  We meet twice a month and even went to a conference last November at Keystone Camp near Starke, FL…we’re hoping to go again this year.

Today we met up with another member and the leaders of the group…we just call them the Bobs  (since both their names are Bob😉).  We had a 9:30 am appt at the local Second Harvest food bank to make a monetary donation.  Then we all headed over to our local Ronald McDonald house to donate food… Bob estimated about 60 pounds of dried and canned food, there were 6 bags😁.

Heading back to the conference room to wait for our meeting with Second Harvest of the Big Bend CEO:)

Patti is looking very photogenic!

All of us…including our second Bob:)

Here is the representative from RM house that accepted our donation.

I really think it is important for Patti, and all people, to get out in their community and make a difference.  With all the unpleasant news out there and people not being so kind, things like this really can bring a little light into this world.  Even little acts can make a big difference.  And who knows, if everyone did it I think the world would be a much nicer and kinder place!

My first post:)

Hello all!!! This is going to be my first post in what I am hoping to be an exciting and fun blog…all about my life with John and Patti. I thought I would start off with sharing a recent occurrence.
John has lived where we are for almost 30 years. In that time he has never replaced the bottom part of the back deck…needless to say the wood was pretty rotten and there weren’t any hand rails for Patti to go up and down the steps. So, for weeks now John has been telling Patti that he was working on a “top secret project” and that there should be no peeking…this amuses her to no end and he, obviously, in turn has so much fun with it. What he has been doing was replacing the deck and fixing the stairs and making sure there are handrails so she can go outside in the backyard without any assistance from either of us with the steps.

View facing the back of the house.

John added chairs, so when the weather permits we can hang out there.

John is bringing Patti out to see it…we know she’s peeked at it, but it’s kinda hard not to!

She’s amazed with her new steps:)

Of course, John is joking and telling her the surprise is the shed out back:)

I think she likes it!

I

Ta-dah!!!

A smoochie for the brother-in-law!!!

So happy!

Just chilling on the back porch!
